KSHRC issues notices on pollution of resorvior

KSHRC Chairperson Justice S R Nayak issued the notices to the Secretary of the Department and the BWSSB Chairman, following reports that water flowing into the reservoir was mixed with industrial effluents and the sample tested at the State Public Health Institute showed that it was not potable. He has sought report on  measures taken to check contamination of the water.

Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar had directed the setting up of a high-level committee to inquire into the contamination of water in the TG Halli reservoir. The committee comprises representatives from the Industries Department, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, the Zilla Panchayats of Bangalore Rural and Urban districts and the BWSSB.
