Labourer killed Namma Metro construction workWall collapses during demolition

A release from BMRCL has stated that the worker, Prakash (24) of Kollegal was killed after a building wall collapsed on him at 2.45 pm while he was on the job. The BMRCL contractor rushed the injured worker to the nearest hospital, where he was pronounced brought dead.

An inquiry has been ordered by a safety expert to ascertain the cause of accident. This is the third fatal accident in the past one year, where a labourer has been killed in Namma Metro construction works.

Scaffolding collapses

Five civil workers were severely injured after scaffoldings of a building under construction collapsed in Rajajinagar industrial estate near West of Chord Road on Saturday evening.
While most workers managed to escape, five workers - Devaraj, Krishnamurthy, Ramakrishna, Shivakumar and Krishna were trapped under the debris. They were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Sources said there was some technical snag in laying of scaffolding materials that led to the collapse. Since it was an industrial shed, the height of each floor was more than a normal building. The police have taken up a case of negligence against one of the partners, Prabhu.

Hacked to death
 A rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death in JP Nagar on Saturday evening. The deceased Vinay Alva (31), was a resident 4th block, Jayanagar.

Police said Alva was on his way to a gym in JP Nagar, III phase, 14th cross in his car. As soon as he got down from the vehicle a gang of eight people, wielding lethal weapons chased Alva and hacked him to death. He was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead. Several cases were registered against Alva at various police stations in the city.

The police have constituted a team to nab the assailants.
