Bengaluru: The Lokayukta on Tuesday held search operations at the properties of 13 government officials, including that of the brother-in-law of BJP state chief B Y Vijayendra, and found total assets, movable and immovable, worth Rs 65.84 crore.
The raids were held simultaneously in over 68 places of residence, offices and residences of the relatives of the officials in Bengaluru, Dharwad, Mysuru, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Bidar, Ballari, Koppal and Kalaburagi. The police wing of the state ombudsman has registered 13 cases of disproportionate assets against the suspects.
In Bengaluru, Lokayukta police raided 17 places belonging to Channakeshava H D, Executive Engineer, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), Jayanagar Sub-Division; T N Sudhakar Reddy, Deputy General Manager, Bescom Vigilance; and H S Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive (Secretary), Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), Kanminike.

During raids at seven places linked with Channakeshava, officials found assets worth Rs 15.53 crore. As per officials, the approximate value of immovable assets — site, house, land properties and documents – was Rs 11.46 crore. They also found Rs 1.44 crore in cash, gold weighing 3 kg, 28 kg of silver, diamonds worth Rs 25 lakh, antique items valued at Rs 5 lakh and sale deeds and other investment documents worth Rs 13 crore.
Raids at the properties of Krishnamurthy and Sudhakar revealed total assets worth Rs 4.09 crore and Rs 5.73 crore, respectively. At four places of Dr Prabhulinga K Mankar, Vijayendra’s brother-in-law and District Health Officer, Yadgir, the officials found total assets worth Rs 1.49 crore.
The other officials who were raided are Basavaraj, Retired Junior Engineer, Grade-2, Urban Divisional Store, Hescom, Hubballi (Rs 4.05 crore); Mahadevaswamy M S, lecturer, Government First Grade College, Nanjangud, Mysuru (Rs 8.41 crore); Thimmarajappa G, Executive Engineer, KRIDL, Vijayapura (presently working as SE KRIDL, Belagavi) (Rs 9 crore); Munegowda N, Deputy Director, Horticulture Department, Ramanagar (Rs 5 crore); H D Narayana Swamy, retired Vice Chancellor, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University, Bidar (Rs 8.9 crore); Sunil Kumar, Accounts Assistant (outsource) (removed), Controller of Finance Office, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University, Bidar (Rs 1.25 crore); B Maruthi, Deputy Range Forest Officer (DRFO), Anegundi, Regional Renge, Gangavathi, Koppal (Rs 21.39 lakh); Chandrashekhar Hiremani, Senior Geologist, Mines and Geology Dept, Ballari (Rs 10.72 lakh) and Sharanappa, Commissioner, City Municipal Council, Yadgir (Rs 2.05 crore).
