A man murdered his wife and later surrendered before the Yelahanka New Town police on Thursday.
Tired of his wife’s constant suspicion about his alleged affairs, Lohith (28) is said to have killed her.
Lohith, a technical assistant with a software company in the City, married Surekha (34), a hotelier, a month-and-a-half ago. They lived in a rented house at Yelahanka New Town.
Both of them were natives of Mangalore. Lohith who befriended Surekha over the phone entered into a living relationship with Surekha.
They were live-in partners for a one-and-a-half years and got married recently, the police said.
Lohith who returned from work on Thursday evening had a bitter quarrel with his wife, over the affairs.
In a fit of rage, he hit her on the head with an iron rod and before she could react, he stabbed her in the neck.
Surekha collapsed and died on the spot. As the news spread in the neighbourhood, Lohith surrendered before the police.
The police retrieved the body from the crime scene and shifted it to Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College for postmortem.
According to the police, both Surekha’s mother and brother had opposed her marriage with Lohith. Since then, they were not in touch with her, the police added.
However, the police have informed the victim’s family members about her death.
Surekha always fought with Lohith over the affairs. The couple recently quarreled over the issue again. This might have led Lohith to take the extreme step, the police added.
