A 46-year-old jobless man was stabbed to death by his son over a trivial issue in Srirampura on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Premraj Joshi, a native of Nepal.

Police said that Premraj Joshi used to work as a watchman and was out of job for the past three months. His son, Krishna Joshi, had married three months ago. The father and son lived separately. Krishna’s wife works as a domestic help and the couple lived in a 7x7 sq feet room.

On Friday noon, Premraj came home drunk and demanded money from his son. The latter refused and soon an argument broke out between the two. An inebriated Krishna, who was cutting vegetables, stabbed his father on chest with the kitchen knife. Premaraj died instantly. Krishna carried his father on his shoulders to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared Premraj brought dead, police said.

Krishna claimed that some unknown person stabbed his father. However, on sustained interrogation he spilled the beans and confessed to the crime.

Srirampura police have registered a case of murder.
