Police said Byrappa had been telling his friends he had difficulty understanding a few subjects. That could have possibly led to the extreme step, police said. The incident came to light when his roommate Bhanu Prakash returned from Mysore. The student has left a note stating no one was responsible for his death.
Man found dead
Maula (40) of Bapujinagar was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Byatarayanapura on Wednesday night.
While the police claim he was killed in a road accident, his wife Fareeda said he was murdered.
In a complaint lodged with the police, Fareeda said some men had attacked her husband, dumped him and fled. By the time she reached the spot, he was dead. But the police maintained that the post-mortem report stated he had died in an accident.
Customs officials held
Three customs and excise officials were arrested in the wee hours of Thursday for illegally storing cigarette packets belonging to the Indian Tobacco Company (ITC).
Cigarette packets worth Rs 1.13 lakh were seized from them.
P Shivakumar (45) of Basaveshwarnagar, Thomas P P (54) of Yelahanka New Town, and Prakash (52) of Banaswadi were arrested by the CCB sleuths, when they were allegedly transferring the packets into a car at Yelahanka 4th ‘B’ Cross.
They allegedly used to sell cigarettes through vendors who were not dealers of the ITC company. Customs officials Anant Ram Das, M Suresh, and M Ashok were also involved in the illegal sale of cigarettes, the police said.
