Sobhita Dhulipala is not your typical actor. From being an economics student to being a model and then an actor, the artiste has come a long way.
She is all excited about her latest film ‘Chef’. In a candid conversation with Tini Sara Anien, she spoke about her role in ‘Chef’ and her other interests.
How did ‘Chef’ happen?
I love cooking and I really like food a lot. I had watched the original ‘Chef’ which was a fun affair. I met Raja Krishna Menon and we were discussing the film and I wanted to be associated with it. I did a little reading and here I am!
Did you face any challenges during the filming?
Nothing in particular except the amount of pasta I had to eat for a particular shot.
You’re also a part of ‘Kaalakaandi’. Tell us more.
The movie has been delayed for a bit. It will come out soon. I’m really excited about it.
Two movies with Saif, how was that experience?
Honestly, I was quite surprised by how easy he is a person to deal with. Saif is a keen listener and I admire that. It is a really difficult trait to possess, when we are surrounded by people. In ‘Chef’, all
my scenes are with him. But in ‘Kaalakaandi’, we are in different scenes.
Actually we met at the wrap-up dinner for ‘Kaalakaandi’. And then we met on the sets of ‘Chef’ and said ‘Hey! Hi again!’
‘Chef’ is a fun movie. Could you narrate a funny moment from the sets?
Even before we began the shoot, we were training at a hotel. I don’t know if the staff was trying to be funny with me but they would give me 15 kg of onions and tell me to start chopping. That was when I realised,I don’t want to be a real chef.
In today’s times, does being a model help in moulding an actor?
There’s a lot of skill and discipline required to be a model. But, I don’t think I enjoyed it. It did help me with my pocket money but I wasn’t sure that I wanted to act. During my audition for ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’, I realised that this is what I wanted to do.
Have you faced stereotypical questions?
Things like ‘Eh lo, aa gayi Miss India!’. It is understandable as not everyone who has been in the industry have proved to have a great intellect.
Some directors you want to work with...
I was lucky to have worked with Anurag Kashyap sir and it was a character-building experience for me. I have told Vikramaditya Motwane that I am ready to even play a cloud or a tree in his movie!
