A newly married couple were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their house in 2nd Cross, Noornagar, Kothanur.
Afroze Pasha, 26, and Heena, 21, allegedly ended their lives by consuming poison late on Friday night, police said. The motive for their death is yet to be ascertained, as the couple, who had entered wedlock just two months ago, were said to be happily married.
Heena, a native of Upparpet in Chintamani, Kolar district, was a relative of Pasha, a scrap dealer.
On Friday, Pasha returned home at around 5 pm and the couple locked themselves in their room, police said. Early Saturday morning, Pasha’s elder brother Tabrez had come to their house, but when he knocked on the door, there was no response. He opened the rear window and peeped in and found Pasha lying on a cot and Heena on the floor. He broke open the door and rushed both of them in an unconscious state to hospital where doctors declared them ‘brought dead’.

A 28-year-old software professional was found dead hanging at his house in JC Nagar, Kurubarahalli, on Saturday afternoon.
Mahesh Kumar, a native of Dharwad, was working as a software engineer with leading IT firms in the City for the past six years and was presently working with Keane India.
On Saturday afternoon, he locked himself up in his room. His mother grew suspicious when he did not respond to her calls and peeped through the window to find him hanging from the ceiling fan. With the help of the neighbours she broke open the door and rushed him to a nearby private hospital. However, he was declared brought dead.
Mahesh's father Shivappa Adaki told Deccan Herald that the family could not ascertain the reason for his death.
Police sources said that Mahesh has left behind a note that he owed Rs 1.5 lakh to one of his friends. He has asked the family to repay the sum. The police said it was not clear whether this was the reason for him to take the extreme step.
Jewellery shop looted
A rowdy and his 15 associates attacked a jewellery shop – Bright Jewellers near Coles Park on Saturday afternoon and made away with gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees.
In his complaint, jewellery shop owner Sadiq Pasha said Brigade Azam and his aides came in three cars to his shop on Saturday at 1:30 pm, assaulted three workers who were in the shop at that time, damaged showcases and made away with jewellery.
Pasha said Azam was pestering him for a hafta of Rs 25 lakh since the past three days and threatened to loot the shop when he refused to pay.
