Nine days after the mother-daughter duo were washed away in the drain at Laggere near Kurubarahalli, the body of 45-year-old Ningamma was found in Vrishabhavathi river near Jnanabharathi on Sunday.
Ningamma and her 16-year-old daughter Pushpa had washed away in the drain after water gushed into their home on October 13. Pushpa’s body was found three days later near Kumbalagodu. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had searched for Ningamma’s body till 41 km and continued the search operation in 21 locations.

Rs 5 lakh compensation
BBMP Mayor R Sampath Kumar handed over Rs 5 lakh compensation to family members of Narasamma (18) on Sunday. Narasamma had washed in an overflowing stormwater drain on October 15, when she went to attend nature’s call and slipped into it. A native of Kalaburagi district, Narasamma was a construction worker.
Meanwhile, the Mayor has promised the slum dwellers of providing the toilet facilities in all slums in the city at the earliest.
