An Iranian national against whom there was a Look Out Circular (LOC) was detained by the police on Thursday before being allowed to fly out of the Kempegowda International Airport on Friday.

Farzad Jafari Oulia was detained after the Immigration Office at the KIA checked his antecedents and alerted the police, said the inspector of the International Airport police station.

“We brought him to the police station and he showed a visa, as per which he could stay in India till August 29. We contacted the Pune police as there was a case against him there for overstaying. He had already booked a ticket and flew out of the country accordingly on Friday,” the inspector.

Oulia had arrived in 2012 on a student visa. He enrolled into the MBA programme at a college in Pune but his visa expired in 2013. He overstayed and became a disc jockey, spending his time in Pune and Goa.

He was deported in March 2014 and blacklisted for 10 years. It’s not unclear how he managed to come back to India, the inspector added.
