Sources said there was a blast at the quarry at around 2.30 pm and a profusely bleeding Mahantesh, a worker, was shifted to hospital. Police said, the blast occurred after a dynamite exploded in the routine blasting process. Three workers reportedly sustained injuries and were rushed to the district hospital.
However, police had a daunting task in gathering information. Blood stains, a pair of footwear were found at the spot. None of the workers were ready to part with the information. “We don’t know anything, we heard a loud noise and saw some people carrying a person,” was all that they said.
They said, “We don’t know who owns the quarry. A person, settles our payment once a week .”
Efforts of the police to search at nearby hospital also drew a blank. It is learnt that such accidents are common in more than a dozen quarries in Talghatpura vicinity. The injured are taken to far away hospitals to avoid trouble.
