Defence personnel and police who conducted a march in the north division were pleasantly surprised when people gathered near Dasarahalli metro station showered them with flowers.
The security personnel were also greeted by the burst of colour powder at another part of the route march by children who, on insistence by their parents, celebrated Holi with them.
The paramilitary forces, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Rapid Action Force (RAF) and the police personnel took part in the march held to create confidence in people on adequate security presence ahead of the general elections.
“The march is part of the confidence-building measure among the public and the voters, assuring them that sufficient security will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the elections,” north division DCP N Shashi Kumar said.
“Even on duty, paramilitary forces and CISF personnel were overwhelmed by the way the public greeted them by showering flowers and spraying Holi powders,” he added.
The route march began from Dasarahalli and proceeded along the Pipeline road towards Bagalagunte, 8th-mile cross and MEA Layout.
Parents gathered to witness the march were seen explaining to their children that the men in military uniforms were the ones who protect the country at the border and the police save people from domestic foes.
