Namma Metro’s month-old Green Line service between Swastik and Peenya was disrupted for an hour due to a glitch in electricity supply, which inconvenienced anxious passengers besides delaying subsequent trains.

A sudden power cut at 3:03 pm hit the metro train services at Kuvempu Road, Rajajinagar, Yeswanthpur, Yeswanthpur Industry and Peenya Industry stations for about an hour.
Officials of the Bangalore Metro Rail Limited (BMRCL) said a power tripping from the side of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited caused the disruption. However, no train was stranded midway and as soon as the power tripping was discovered, all the passengers were informed of it at 3:08 pm.

The power disruption also affected the next six trips of the metro train. Officials said in a statement that about 675 passengers were refunded the fare amount. Later, the train services resumed at 4:03 pm after restoration of power supply at 3:58 pm.

BMRCL officials said investigations are on to find out the reason for disruption in power supply and it is too early to say anything at this stage.

The metro also witnesses a rise in the number of commuters on holidays compared to weekdays. Passengers stranded for an hour at the stations turned anxious as the power cut also affected their plans on Sunday.
