The state is likely to witness sporadic rain at several areas, bringing some respite from the scorching heat that was prevalent over the past few days.

Close on the lines of the forecast, Bengaluru and other adjoining districts witnessed cloudy weather conditions on Sunday.

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Cell (KSNDMC), the rain is due to the fast-changing weather conditions over North Interior Karnataka.

“We have noticed upper air circulation over North Interior Karnataka region coupled with intense clouds along the Eastern Coast. This could result in a few spells of rain on Monday and Tuesday in some parts of the state,” said Dr G S Sreenivasa Reddy, director of KSNDMC.

Evidently, parts of North Interior Telangana and Andhra Pradesh received rain on Saturday and Sunday and a similar cascading effect was felt in Karnataka, too, according to KSNDMC.

“We are expecting about 7.5 mm rainfall spanning two to three days across the Hyderabad-Karnataka region besides cloudy condition in several others districts. There has been a steady increase in the day time temperature and intensity of winter chill is also dropping,” Dr Reddy added.
