Bengaluru: The police custody of actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and three others — Dhanraj, Vinay and Pradosh — was extended by two days on Thursday, while the other arrested suspects in the alleged murder of Renukaswamy from Chitradurga, including Pavithra Gowda, were remanded to judicial custody.
The custody of the four was extended after the prosecutor sought it for further investigation. The prosecutor also argued that some suspects were not cooperating with the probe while seeking the custody to be extended by four days. After hearing the arguments, the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) extended the custody by two days.
The custody of the four would expire on Saturday and they have to be produced before the magistrate by 5 pm.
Ranganath Reddy, the counsel for Darshan, said that the prosecutor claimed there were eyewitnesses to the crime.
When asked regarding the seeking of bail, Reddy said: “Once the police custody ends and after scrutinising the final remand application, the bail application would be moved.”
The other arrested Pavithra, Nagaraju R, Laxman M, Pawan K, Deepak Kumar M, Nandish, Nikhil Nayak, Raghavendra, Karthik, Keshava Murthy, Ravi, Jagadish alias Jagga and Anu Kumar, were moved to the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison Complex amid tight security.
