Animal lovers in the city came together at ‘Build a Bond’, a pet adoption drive, organised by a pharmaceutical company. The event saw many animals finding loving homes and families.
Over 165 pets participated in the event, which comprised of various activities like a walkathon with dogs and grooming sessions for the pets.
The event, hosted as a part of the Himalaya Companion Care initiative, focused on adopting over buying a pet.
Speaking about the initiative, Neti Patel of the Himalaya Drug Company said: "The stigma around adopting a dog is unfortunate, especially if it is an Indie. Through the initiative, we want to sensitise people about pet adoption and help find loving homes for abandoned and rescued dogs."
Ritesh Sood, a veterinarian, encouraged the participants and visitors to adopt adult dogs instead of only considering puppies. “There is a misconception that you have to adopt a dog in the puppy stage to develop an attachment. This is a myth as adult dogs also get easily attached to new loving owners,” he said.
