Residents of BDA layouts want better civic amenities
The residents of the layouts developed by the Bangalore Development Authority, falling under the BDA west division, poured out their woes at a grievance redressal meeting here on Saturday.
A majority of the complaints pertained to poor infrastructure facilities in the layouts developed by the civic agency. BDA Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri promised the residents that their greivances will be addresd on a priority basis.
Shankar, a resident of Visvesvaraya Layout, 3rd Block, said that he had been approaching the BDA for the past five years seeking infrastructure such as roads and drainage in his locality. “However, nothing has happened till now,” he said and requested the BDA commissioner to take up the matter at the earliest.
Geetha Shivaram said that she was allotted a BDA site a few years ago at Nagarabhavi 2nd Stage, 13th Block. “But, a person by name Nagaraj has now built a compound wall around the site claiming that the area does not belong to the BDA. He has even filed a suit in the court,” she said. The commissioner replied that the BDA would seek a legal opinion and solve the matter. Members of Sahyadri Flats Owners’ Association, Valagerahalli, submitted a memorandum to the commissioner, requesting proper maintenance of the Sahyadri flats built by the BDA. “The flat maintenance contractor, B G Shirke, is not efficient and we are facing problems in garbage disposal, security and maintenance of drains,” the association members said. As many as 232 complaints were heard at the meet held at the BDA complex, Vijayanagar.
