The residents of Hennur staged a protest against the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board for not restoring the dug up roads.
On Tuesday morning, they blocked the Hennur main road as a mark of protest.
“It has been more than a year since the BWSSB has dug up the roads to lay the water pipelines in the locality. They have not been restored yet. We have approached the BWSSB several times, but they are not responding to our calls,” said Rajesh Gowda, a nearby resident. The shopkeepers complained of dust in the area.
“There are hundreds of shops in the area. The shopkeepers are having a tough time to attract customers due to dust,” said Samuel, another nearby resident.
Muniraju, secretary, Hennur Residents’ Welfare Association said: “The contractor should be held responsible and ensure that the road is restored.” Anand, a BBMP member, said: “It has come to our notice that people have been facing trouble while commuting as the road has not been restored. I shall order to asphalt the road from Kothanur until the service road near Hennur bridge immediately.”
