The residents of Kadugodi are in a fix as to whom and when to approach to address issues in the ward. Thanks to irregular ward committee meetings.
According to the residents of Kadugodi in East Bengaluru, only two ward committee meetings were conducted so far. "No meeting was held in January. To compensate this, a meeting was held on February 6," said one of the residents.
He added: "There are plenty of issues to be addressed, be it roads or drainage or garbage etc. But the committee meetings are not taken seriously here."
Denying these claims, Muniswamy, local corporator, said the meetings were regularly held. "In Kadugodi ward, the meetings are held regularly in the presence of all the civic authorities and resident welfare associations," he said.
"Most of the residents are not aware of the meetings. They should keep track of the meetings on social media and speak to active resident welfare associations," he added.
Although the ward committee meetings are held regularly in Bellandur ward, the residents complained that civic authorities, who attended the meetings so far, have not taken any significant action.
"The idea of ward committee meetings is good. But the urge to resolve the issues among civic authorities is lacking," said Vishnu Prasad, a resident from Bellandur.
"We had asked the BBMP officials to issue notices to the vendors encroaching the footpaths in Bellandur in one of the meetings. But the issue was not taken seriously. Likewise, there are many issues in the ward that were not resolved," said another resident who regularly attends meetings.
