A well-placed police source said that they are verifying the authenticity of the video and when it was taken. But prima facie, it appears to be a recent video. An FIR has been filed at Sampigehalli police station under BNS sections dealing with voluntarily causing hurt and causing hurt by dangerous weapons. “We are trying to gather more details about the incident and checking if there are more videos of the incident. People involved in the incident are yet to be identified,” the officer told DH.

The purported video of the incident was shared on X, a social media platform, by a user named Karnataka Portfolio. The purported 11-second video shared by the user shows a man with a black full-sleeve t-shirt pummeling a shirtless man and walking away.

According to the police, the incident was an outcome of road rage.
