Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has banned the slaughter and sale of meat in Bengaluru on September 7 (Saturday) on the occasion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

The BBMP’s animal husbandry division issued the order on Thursday. As per the BBMP’s data, there are about 3,000 licensed meat shops and three authorised slaughterhouses in the city.
