The city police arrested a security guard from Uttar Pradesh on charges of attempting to rape an advocate when she was alone at a parking lot last week in Ashok Nagar.
The Ashok Nagar police arrested Rajesh Singh (44) based on the call detail record from his native. Singh is accused of attempting to rape the advocate when she was leaving her office.
Soon after the incident on January 25, the victim had approached the police and filed a complaint, stating that she stayed at office till late night due to work. Around 9.30 pm, the building's security guard came to her office and told her that there was a water leak outside.
Later, around 11.50 pm, there was a power shutdown. The frightened advocate decided to leave.
She turned on the flashlight on her mobile phone and was heading towards the building parking lot when the security guard appeared before her and began staring at her. She switched off the flashlight. However, the guard pushed her to the ground and tried to rape her. As she screamed, the guard fled the scene afraid that he would be caught.
The police took up the case and arrested him from his native place in Uttar Pradesh based on the call detail record.
Singh told the police that he misbehaved with the advocate as he was drunk. He fled to his native place by train on January 26, fearing arrest. Singh was produced before the magistrate and was remanded to judicial custody.
