The Palike has now invited tenders for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Palike Towers, for the new corporators to the BBMP. The Towers will be a seven- storey structure with a multiple parking bay for those who attend the session including the MLAs who take part in the proceedings. “We are preparing the DPR to be presented to the Council, when it holds its first session. It is upto the Council to approve the Palike Towers,” said a BBMP official. The BBMP is now hoping that the multiple parking bay will ease the congestion of vehicles.
“There is very limited parking facility in the headquarters now. We need the structure to accommodate the vehicles of 198 corporators, nominated corporators and the MLAs, who will be attending the sessions,” said another BBMP official. When the Council is not in session, the BBMP is likely to utilise the facility.
The BBMP will be opening the tenders to the Palike Towers on March 18. “As the model code of conduct is in place we cannot issue the work order for the project,” said an official.
