The Juvenile Justice Board directed the city police to register a suo motu complaint against the principal a school where a class 9 student was sexually assaulted for 10 months by five of his classmates.
V Prakash, chairman of the juvenile board and magistrate, on Thursday directed Sadashiva Nagar police and Sheshadripuram assistant commissioner of police to conduct a preliminary investigation against the principal of the Central government-run school. The police were told to register a suo motu case and take action against him if his negligence and lapses were proved in the investigation.
On July 13, DH had reported about the sexual assault (‘Boy sexually tormented for 10 months in school’). The school later claimed that the incident did not take place inside the classroom or on its premises.
Meanwhile, the five juveniles who were detained in the case on June 29 were granted bail on Thursday with sureties for each and also Rs 50,000 bond. The board strictly instructed them and their parents not to influence or threaten the victim, his parents, prosecutor and other witnesses.
