Sacred Heart Girls’ High School, located on Residency Road, completes 170 years in 2024. The Bengaluru institution’s alumnae association is celebrating the landmark anniversary with a special event on November 16.
The evening will begin with a formal event with Margaret Alva, politician and former governor of Goa, as the chief guest. Other special guests include Anjum Jung of Morph Design, the interior design wing of the Prestige Group, and Sadanand Vishwanath, a former cricketer.
The formal event will be followed by a homecoming ball, titled Heartine Ball. The alumnae association is expecting 500 women from across all batches, from 1964 to 2023, to attend the event.
“The theme is ‘Bridgerton’. Fourplay, a popular Bengaluru band, will perform. There will also be games and food stalls,” shares Kavita Pole, who is part of the alumnae association.
The story of the school began in 1854 when five sisters from the Catholic religious order — Sisters of the Good Shepherd — came to India with the mission of educating girls in the country. They arrived in Bengaluru in August 1854 and set up the school.
Noted alumnae from the school include athlete Ashwini Nachappa, architect Gayathri Shetty, singer Priya Mendens, and actor Madhuri Braganza.
November 16, 4 pm. At the school premises on Residency Road. Alumnae may contact 82960 53140 for further details.
