The State government on Thursday issued an order, revoking the suspension of senior IPS officer Alok Kumar, who is facing charges of involvement in the illegal lottery scam.
He has been reinstated into service, pending inquiry. He has been posted as IGP, Training, Bengaluru.
The officer was placed under suspension in May this year, following the charges against him. The CBI is currently investigating the lottery scam. Kumar had recently approached the Centre seeking justice.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is learnt to have recently asked the State government to reinstate the officer. The MHA has cited a Supreme Court ruling which states that officers should not be kept under suspension, if the charge sheet is not filed within three months.
