The deceased Anish Ayappan, a resident of Kathriguppe and an IT professional working in Bellandur, died on the spot. His colleague and pillion rider, Rohit Sharma, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The incident occurred around 1.45 am near Brookefield Hospital when the scooter crashed into the rear of the stationary lorry, which had pulled over to the side of the road.

"We have booked the lorry driver under Section 285 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for blocking the main road by parking without taking proper safety precautions," said an officer from the HAL Airport traffic police station.

Crash on Old Airport Road

In a separate incident that gained attention on social media platform X, a video showed a man being placed on a stretcher by 108 ambulance staff and bystanders after crashing his bike on a poorly constructed and uneven speed breaker on Old Airport Road.

While the HAL Airport traffic police confirmed that a newly laid speed breaker in the area may have contributed to the accident, no medicolegal case has been filed.

"We were informed that the crash occurred near the cargo gate and that the injured man was an HAL employee. We reviewed the footage and contacted the ambulance driver, but it seems the man walked away before being taken to the hospital," said an officer.
