A software professional, working with Infosys, was found dead at a guest house on the campus at the Electronics City Wednesday morning.
Police said the dead, Swapneel Badarinarayan Malpani, 23, was from Pune, Maharashtra. Employed at the Pune branch of the Infosys, he had recently come to the City campus on a client service project. He had been put up at the guest house on the Electronics City campus. Sources said, when he did not turn up at the office on Wednesday morning, one of his colleagues repeatedly called him on his mobile phone, but it was switched off.
The colleague visited the guest house and found that the door was left ajar and Swapneel was locked inside the toilet. The colleague immediately alerted the security, who broke open the door to find Swapneel collapsed on the bathroom floor. He was immediately rushed to the Narayana Hrudayalaya hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The Electronics City police have registered a case and are investigating. A senior police official said Swapneel had not suffered any external injuries.
He added that since Swapneel was unwell on Tuesday, his colleague had decided to check on him, when he did not answer the phone calls. “The autopsy report would give us a clear picture on the exact reason for his death,” the official added.
