Fighter planes and motorsports are the two things, other than films, that hold the interest of actor Aditya Singh. The young star confesses that if he hadn’t become an actor, he would have either ventured into motorsports or become a fighter pilot.
In the just released ‘Rebel’, Aditya plays a National Security Guard (NSG) commando. “In the film, we don’t get into the details of the training regime but the character is pretty interesting. There was no extensive preparation done for the character. Interestingly, I had a lot of stunt sequences and had to follow a diet to build good endurance level. I also spent a better part of my time training to strengthen my muscles,” he explains.
He adds, “I’ve trained with real commandos and spent a lot of time with them just observing their body language and understanding how NSG functions. They use specific codes and follow a strict code of conduct which I had to understand. I had to also undergo rigorous training for the use of weapons which is used only in NSG,” explains Aditya. The movie is largely shot in Singapore and Bengaluru.
Aditya says that although he couldn’t become a fighter pilot, he lives his dream through his projects. “There are a couple of scenes where I had to drop from a helicopter. This was pretty new to me and I had to practise a lot to get the drop right,” he adds.
He states that ‘Rebel’ will be a complete entertainer. “It’s the story of a commando and what emotions he goes through when he lands up in a situation where he is caught between his mother and motherland. It’s a thrilling subject,” he adds.
Aditya hopes to break free from the ‘bad boy’ image with ‘Rascal’, in which he plays a college-goer. “The tag line of the film reads ‘Rascal — A lady’s favourite’. With this, we hope to get young girls to come to the theatre. The main character can either be hated or loved but cannot be avoided. It’s a lovable role,” he sums up.
