The Central Crime Branch police arrested two suspected bookies, Dinesh Kumar (36) of Tyagarajanagar and Vadivelu (34) of Jayanagar during a raid on their premises on Saturday. Cash of Rs two lakh, eight cellphones, an LCD television and a sheet containing details of the persons and amount involved in the betting were seized during the raid. Eight other bookies managed to flee, police said.
Police said Dinesh has been in the betting racket for the past 10 years and was in touch with bookies in Mumbai and Delhi.
On the other hand, police arrested 25 alleged black marketeers and seized 25 unsold tickets and cash of Rs 82,000 from them.
