Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police have booked two passengers for abusing security personnel at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on October 29.

The suspects — Aman Raj, 32, and Aditi Kumari, 28 — are reported to have refused to cooperate with security checks after a scan showed their bagged contained a "suspicious" object, which later turned out to be a cigarette lighter.

According to police, the passengers were to board separate flights to Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.

Raj is from Bihar and Kumari from Jharkhand. They are acquaintances and arrived at the airport together in the early hours of October 29, a police officer said.

During the baggage check, security staff flagged something suspicious. When the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff intervened to check, the two allegedly refused to cooperate and called them "bloody beshram police officer" and used “unparliamentary and filthy words", as per the FIR.

The security staff later found a cigarette lighter in the bag.

The police have booked them under BNS sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
