The Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) was seen as a glitch by many in the Bangalore South constituency as it caused confusion among voters and delayed the voting process.

As the machine beeped for seven seconds after the vote was cast, people did not leave the polling booth until they heard the sound, delaying the voting process in many parts of the Bangalore South constituency. Also, there was confusion among voters about the VVPAT.

For instance, a voter at polling booth 213 in Basavanagudi’s ITI Layout was seen asking the polling officer for the slip and the official had to explain the process.

Bangalore South was among the chosen seven constituencies across the country, where the VVPAT was introduced on an experimental basis. Under the system, the VVPAT machine will generate a paper slip, displaying to voters, for seven seconds the name and symbol of the candidate they had chosen, after which the slip will automatically drop into a sealed box.
