Putting the rumour mills to rest, Sandalwood’s newest on-screen pair, Rakshit Shetty and Rashmika Mandanna are getting engaged today at Virajpet. Their first movie together, ‘Kirik Party’ was what brought them together. What began as a friendship slowly grew and blossomed into what Rakshit likes to call a ‘beautiful relationship’.
In an interview with Nina C George, Rakshit and Rashmika talk about what brought them together and about their big day.
When did you realise that you were meant for each other? Rakshit: We’ve known each other for a while now. We got to know each other better during the promotions of ‘Kirik Party’. It was a slow process and we took time to understand each other. It was around the time of my birthday that we decided to get engaged.
Rashmika: We started out as friends but used to spend a lot of time with each other. I found in Rakshit the perfect person who would take care of me the way I wanted to be taken care of.
What do you like most about each other? Rashmika: I like his patience and the way he carries himself. He appears to be a very simple man but you realise that he is a complicated person once you get to know him well.
Rakshit: Rashmika is a very innocent girl. I’ve always wanted to be able to respect the person I marry and I have found that I’ve been able to do that with Rashmika.
How do the two of you complement each other’s work? Rashmika: Rakshit is my biggest critic. If I get any offers, then I seek his advice before agreeing to it. Even before we got close, I used to seek his counsel on my roles. Rakshit has always been my ‘go to’ guy.
What’s the best part about being together? Rashmika: We never get bored of each other’s company.
Rakshit: We help each other a lot.
What’s the best compliment you have received so far? Rakshit: People say that we both look good together.
Rashmika: I agree.
What do you plan to wear for the engagement? Rashmika: We are wearing something that is colour coordinated. I am wearing a peach-coloured gown.
Rakshit: I’ve picked up a beige suit, peach-coloured tie and a peach pocket square to go with Rashmika’s outfit.
When is the wedding? Rakshit: We are in no hurry to get married and prefer to concentrate on our careers. I want Rashmika to continue acting as she has great potential and I too have a couple of commitments to complete.
