The Amruthahalli police on Friday arrested a woman for kidnapping her mother over a disputed property in Hebbal.

Susheela Sharma was rescued from Spandana Hospital in Nandhini Layout, where her daughter Sunitha kept her in forced confinement to get her signature on an inheritance deed, the police said.

Susheela was a property dealer, whose son had died a few years ago. Sunitha was one of her three daughters. The police said Sunitha and her sisters were fighting to share the Rs 200-crore property owned by Susheela.

Sunitha, the oldest daughter, claimed she was the closest to her mother and admitted Susheela to hospital for treatment. Her two brothers-in-law approached the Amruthahalli police on February 5, but the police declined to register a complaint, saying it was a family dispute.

One of the brothers-in-law, Narotham, filed a habeas corpus petition in the high court, which directed the city police commissioner and Amruthahalli police to file a case and investigate. On Friday, the police arrested Sunitha for the illegal confinement of her mother.
