Eight-year-old Bhaskar has already collected over 900 stamps. “I actually had around 1,000 stamps, but lost around 100 in handling them. Now I am in the process of collecting more and will soon have a 1,000 stamps from all over the world,” he said. The third standard student from Delhi Public School says he may sell them one day.

Srisha and Ashwin from Jyothi Kendriya Vidyalaya said they have a passion for collecting stamps. “Stamps improve our knowledge about other countries culture and heritage. We learn a lot from collecting stamps from different countries,” says Srisha who has more 80 stamps to his credit.

Ashwin has a fascination for stamps of different shapes. Though he has a collection of more than 800 stamps from different countries, Indian stamps are the best, he says.

India Post had organised various competitions for 185 students from 20 schools across the City. J P Sarda, General Secretary of Karnataka Philatelic Society educated children on how to collect and maintain stamps.

Through stamp collection, one will learn about politics, history, personalities, soldiers, warrior, arms, national and international events, flora and fauna, agriculture, scientists, science, monuments, modes of transport and geography of every country.
