The BJP has planned to bring together one lakh farmers for a massive protest on December 10, when the winter session of the legislature is scheduled to begin in Belagavi.

The saffron party looks to gain traction ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP staged a protest at the Mysuru Bank circle here, as part of a statewide agitation against the Congress-JD(S) coalition, especially Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for a remark against a woman farmer that became controversial.

“Throughout the state in almost all taluks and districts, we're holding protests against Kumaraswamy’s statement on a woman farmer and against his inability to waive crop loans at a time when 100 taluks are drought-hit,” BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa, who led the protest, said.

“On December 10, when the winter session of legislature starts in Belagavi, we will gather one lakh farmers for a massive protest,” he added. The upcoming winter session of legislature will be the first for the Kumaraswamy administration.
