The state BJP will soon chalk out a plan to use the legacy of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee to strike a chord with voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The party held a series of programmes, including free health check-up camp and distribution of fruits to patients in government hospitals, to celebrate the birth anniversary of Vajpayee here on Tuesday.
BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa and other leaders are of the opinion that given the popularity Vajpayee enjoyed in Karnataka, the party should not shy away from capitalising on his legacy in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections. Vajpayee’s contribution to Karnataka during his tenure as prime minister, his imprisonment at Central Jail in Bengaluru during the Emergency days among others will be highlighted. A detailed plan of action will be worked out soon, a party functionary said.
