Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the Supreme Court had called the BJP’s bluff of forming the government in Karnataka without the required numbers and the saffron party would now try money and muscle to steal the mandate.

Soon after the Supreme Court ordered floor test in the Karnataka assembly, Rahul Gandhi said the apex court order vindicated the Congress stand that Governor Vajubhai Vala had acted unconstitutionally.

“The BJP’s bluff that it will form the government, even without the numbers, has been called out by the court. Stopped legally, they will now try money and muscle, to steal the mandate,” the Congress chief said.

Earlier, the Congress welcomed the top court order saying it had restored democracy.

“Constitution wins, Democracy restored! B S Yeddyurappa does remain a 1 day CM – Constitution rejects an illegitimate CM as also the unconstitutional decision of Governor of Karnataka,” AICC communication wing chief Randeep Surjewala said.
