Brahmakalashabhisheka draws hundreds to Polali temple

Various rituals were held on account of ‘Brahmakalashabhisheka’ at Polali Rajarajeshwari Temple on Wednesday. The temple has a history of 1,700 years.

The renovation works were executed at a cost of Rs 20 crore without damaging the original structure. The works were taken up under the guidance of temple architect Mahesh Muniyangala.

The nine-feet tall idol of the Goddess, made from different kinds of soil, was installed by Suratha Maharaja.

As a part of the Brahmakalashabhisheka, ‘Dravyakalashabhisheka’ was offered to Goddess Durgaparameshwari and presiding deity Rajarajeshwari under the guidance of Brahmasri Vedamurthy Narasimha Tantri and Kodimajalu Ananthapadmanabha Upadhya.

Members of different communities had donated ‘Dhwajasthamba’ (Kodi Mara), ‘Kanchina Deepastamba,’ ‘Rajatha Kavacha’ and others to the temple as part of the celebrations.

Thousands of devotees had gathered outside the sanctum sanctorum to get a glimpse of the event. The idol of goddess was decorated with flowers and gold ornaments. Even the temple was decorated with flowers on the occasion.

‘Chende’, ‘Tase’, Nagari’, band and other instruments added musical background to the celebrations.

As a large number of devotees visited the temples, the parking area was packed with vehicles. By noon, there was no space on the temple premises.

Free bus service

Free bus services were arranged from Kinnigoli, Kateel, Bajpe, Moodbidri and Mangaluru to ferry the devotees to the temple. As the entry of devotees was restricted inside temple during the rituals, LED screens were mounted around the temple.

Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje visited the temple. She visited godown where all the offerings in the form of materials had been stored. Later, she visited the kitchen and assisted the women who were chopping the vegetables. Members of Ammunje Bhajana Mandali sang ‘Bhajans’ throughout the day.
