She was speaking after inaugurating the fifth state-level convention of the Student’s Federation of India organised as part of International Women’s Day in Hassan, on Saturday.
She released a book ‘Addagodegalannodedu’ translated by Dr Gayathri.
She advised women to realise her dreams and strive to reach the goals instead of deviating from the path.
She should importance to update her knowledge and make life fruitful. While some were still confined to four walls, others have achieved their desired goals by breaking all the barriers.
They should emulate those women who have achieved success in their respective fields.
Bhanu Mushtaq, a writer said many have been denied justice by government departments despite equal rights guaranteed in the Constitution.
There were several laws to protect women in the country. It was mandatory that the committees of women should be formed in all government departments to check sexual harassment at the places of work but, it was seldom practiced. The government has entrusted the responsibility of protecting interests of women to the Department of Women and Child Welfare.
However, women empowerment is still a distant dream in the country, she added.
She called upon the women to know their rights and duties and also give importance to taking care of their families.
She has to balance between two responsibilities to achieve success.
Concern
Gyaenecologist Dr Rangalakshmi expressed her grave concern over widening gap between male and female ratio in the country. She asked women to take care of their babies irrespective of sex.
