Palemadu paisari residents opposed the move of the district administration to hand over the land earmarked for burial ground to construct a cricket stadium on Tuesday.
The residents staged a protest by placing the corpse of Palemadu resident Ganesh.
The protesters said that a 2-acre land was sanctioned by the government for a burial ground in 2009. Later, the said land was sanctioned to the State Cricket Association to construct a cricket stadium. Opposing the new move of the government, the villagers staged a protest.
Village leader Monnappa said that the district administration has failed to solve the row over the burial ground. The villagers in the past had staged series of protest against the move of the state government, he reminded.
The protesters said although the district administration had promised to provide basic amenities to the villagers in the past, no action was taken to provide the same.
