Speaking at a function to felicitate newly-elected BJP corporators of the BBMP, Yeddyurappa said meeting the transportation needs of Bangaloreans was high on the Government agenda.
The proposed 59-km monorail is conceived to act as a feeder service to Namma Metro. Giving green signal to the mono-rail project was one of the promises made in the BJP manifesto in the run-up to the BBMP polls.
Yeddyurappa said he had given the go ahead for the Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) to proceed with the proposal for 1,400-MW power plant in Bidadi. The plant would be commissioned by January 2012, he added.
