The Cabinet on Thursday approved the plan for building Rs 80-crore golden chariot for Kukke Subramanya temple. The government had, in 2005, given approval to build golden chariot with 240 kg of gold, at a cost of Rs 15 crore. However, the project failed to take off.
Meanwhile, the model code of conduct seems to be testing the patience of political leaders. Leaders’ dissent against the continuation of model code of conduct, according to sources, came up for discussion at the meeting. Some of the ministers reportedly expressed their displeasure over not being provided escort services during visits to district headquarters.
