Bengaluru: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an administrative officer of the Bengaluru-based National Institute of Unani Medicine for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for clearing bills.

According to the agency, the complainant, a canteen vendor, accused Nadeem A Siddiqui of demanding a bribe of Rs 1.1 lakh for clearing the bills. 

“The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed demanding and accepting a part amount of the bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant,” the agency said. 

CBI officials searched the premises belonging to Siddiqui and recovered Rs 2 lakh.

The Special Judge for CBI cases in Bengaluru has remanded him to judicial custody, officials said.
