The company said unless the recommendations of the committee are approved by the Supreme Court the report has no value.

B V Srinivasa Reddy, Managing Director of OMC, in a press release said that the Supreme Court did not direct or authorise the CEC to submit such a report. The recommendations or observations continued to be the views of the CEC until the same were approved by the Supreme Court.

Reddy said Tappal Ganesh, a mine owner from Bellary, had filed an interlocutory application before the Supreme Court seeking his impleadment as a respondent in the writ petition filed by BIOP, a mining company in Anantapur. BIOP had moved the court over a boundary dispute with OMC. Ganesh filed another application seeking to add the Central Empowered Committee also as respondent. Reddy said petition had not yet come up for hearing since then.

But, he said, the CEC without any order by the Supreme Court submitted its report. “Boundary dispute between two companies is not the concern of the CEC. There is no green issue involved”, he said.
