MLA C T Ravi has demanded the state government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe adulteration of milk and supply of artificial milk to the Hassan Milk Union.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Ravi said that a complaint had been lodged oversupply of milk adulterated with harmful substances to the milk union. The crime is suspected to have been carried out by a network of people.
The milk union, in its report, stated that a whopping sum of Rs 16 crore had been misused over the last several years through adulteration of milk.
“It has come to light that milk was adulterated in KB Haal, Belavadi and Machenahalli Panchayat limits. FIR has been registered against two people (a woman and her son) in Kurubarahalli in Machenahalli limits,” said the MLA.
“Generally, the production of milk in the above said gram panchayats is 20 cans. But, the production went up to 50 cans, after milk was adulterated with hazardous chemicals. The laboratory reports have confirmed it also,” Ravi said, adding that the consumption of adulterated milk leads to serious health complications. He suspected that a similar racket could be active in the state and hence the issued needs a thorough investigation.
The farmers are not paid with milk subsidy for the last three months. The dues should be cleared, he demanded.
The MLA said that the previous state government had assured of issuing title deeds under Section 94C and 94 CC. A circular released by the then government in this regard said that the process would be completed within six months. The Revenue Department has recently issued a circular saying that there was no scope for the regularisation of houses built on ‘Gomala’ and ‘Kumki’ lands, coastal regulation zone, ‘C’ and ‘E’ zones, and deemed forest areas.
The Revenue Department has also directed the authorities concerned to issue endorsements after the scrutiny of applications.
“The purpose of imposing restrictions on regularisation of houses in CRZ and forest lands could be understood. But, it is not prudent to refrain people from regularising houses in C and E and Gomala lands. The condition should be relaxed by issuing a revised circular in this regard,” he said.
