Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy who has been camping at Ibnii resort near Madikeri has taking complete rest, avoiding any sort of contact with the media.
The chief minister is accompanied by his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy and son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, while District In-charge Minister Sa Ra Mahesh conducted a meeting with officials in Madikeri in the noon and returned to the resort.
Security has been strengthened in and around the resort. There is a solar fence in a one-kilometre radius of the cottage where the chief minister is staying.
No one except the resort staff is allowed inside the cottage. Even the local JD(S) leaders could not meet the chief minister.
Speaking to reporters near the resort, Minister Sa Ra Mahesh said, “We are all human beings. All of us have a private life. The chief minister and his family are taking rest. He will neither visit a temple nor any tourist spot in the district.”
“There is no need to give a meaning for Kumaraswamy and Coalition Government Coordination Committee Chairman Siddaramaiah staying in the same resort. Former and present chief ministers stayed in the same resort to inform the people that Kodagu has returned back to normalcy after the natural disaster which wreaked havoc last year. Kodagu is safe for tourists,” said Mahesh.
The chief minister will attend a marriage at Maddooru, on Sunday, according to sources.
Khairunnisa, a native of Gonikoppa who had come to meet the chief minister returned empty-handed. It was said that her son Yasin had availed a loan of Rs 2 lakh to run a textile shop. As he had failed to repay the loan, the bank had served a notice to him. Fearing further action, Khairunnisa had come to submit a memorandum to the chief minister seeking help.
