Speaking after distributing Bhagyalakshmi scheme bonds and sarees to beneficiaries at the District Stadium here on Sunday, the CM promised that the plan will be approved and funds will be released at the earliest. The road development work will be taken up soon after the approval, he added.
The CM said that the government has already distributed 15,915 bonds under the Bhagyalakshmi scheme in the district. As many as 22,387 beneficiaries were identified under the scheme, he said adding that the bonds for the remaining 6,472 children will be sent by post in the days to come.
“I had faced many difficulties to educate my sister. Had the scheme was implemented 25 years ago, majority of women in the State today would have become educated,” Yeddyurappa observed.
Rs 10 crore for CMC
Yeddyurappa said that the government has released Rs 10 crore for various development work in Chikmagalur City Municipality. “Funds will be sanctioned to all local bodies in the district to undertake development work,” he added.
The CM inaugurated various development work worth Rs 10 crore. He also laid foundation stones for various development work to be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh in the district.
‘Rs 300 cr reserved’
Minister for Women and Child Welfare C C Patel said that the government has reserved Rs 300 crore for the implementation of Bhagyalakshmi scheme in the State. “Strict action will be taken against officials, if they fail to implement the scheme properly,” he said and added that the scheme, which is aimed at the overall welfare of girls, will ensure education health and bring about economic empowerment. MP D V Sadananda Gowda said that the State has secured second place in the implementation of development schemes in the nation. MLA C T Ravi urged that the government should take initiatives to distribute compensation to farmers, who suffered loss due to rains.
Ravi pointed out that a total of 83,000 houses in the district do not have toilets. Funds should be sanctioned to build toilets in all houses through Sri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Programme, he added.
