Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday directed the Tourism department to promote tourism activities through the hotel industry.
Kumaraswamy, who held a meeting with representatives of Karnataka Pradesh Hotels and Restaurants’ Association at his home office ‘Krishna’, said that there was tremendous potential for both hotel business and tourism in the state.
Kumarswamy directed the officilas to take up tourism-based development activities in districts including Mysuru, Dharwad, Udupi-Mangaluru, Belagavi, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Shivamogga and Kodagu, which are home to many tourist, historical and religious destinations.
He asked the officials to develop tourism centred around Shivamogga by providing good roads, accommodation facilities, information centres and guides.
Kumaraswamy assured to renew licences of hotels across the state.
