Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar has urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to approve the proposal of the Karnataka Urban Water Supply & Drainage Board (KUWSD) to increase the bulk water supply from the Malaprabha reservoir.
In a letter written to Mr Siddaramaiah, Mr Shettar stated that KUWSDB has submitted a Rs 24 crore action plan to the government, to lift additional 40 MLD of water from Malaprabha reservoir, to improve the water supply situation in the twin cities.
After Neersagar tank went dry, there is severe scarcity of drinking water in the twin cities, and water supply frequency has become once in nine or 10 days at some places. The chief minister had agreed to approve the proposal and release funds, but that assurance has not yet been fulfilled, Mr Shettar lamented.
